We are very pleased to announce that we will finally step outside the studio! We are moving into the spotlight of the exhibition space at Edinburgh’s Scottish Storytelling Centre.
SAVE THE DATE
Save the exhibition preview date of Tuesday 3 August for this rare in-person experience. Now under a new title Thistles, Sunflowers and Dreamscapes, this long postponed exhibition will continue until Sunday 30 August 2021. It will be open daily 10:00 – 20:00 as one of the nine live shows officially part of Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2021 at this festival venue 30.
PRE-BOOK YOUR VISIT
The exhibition is free and open to all but booking is advised in line with the Scottish Government public health guidance. Please pre-book your visit online directly through the Fringe here or through the Centre here.
SUPPORT
We are also delighted that all 30 paintings featured in the exhibition are available for sale directly through the artist’s own online shop here. What is more, there is no commission from the Centre and some of the proceeds will be donated to Davidson’s Mains Primary School. Please, help spread this news as we believe that this donation could make a real, tangible difference to this primary school in Edinburgh.
Find further curatorial details about the exhibition themes here. Included are notions of home, migration and roots through the symbolism of sunflowers and thistles; depictions of iconic and imaginary places where reality and fantasy merge into surreal imagery as if in a dream. We do hope that they will all resonate with our strange, surreal times defined by pandemics of past and present.
BEHIND THE SCENES
In the meantime, dip into some of the stories inspired by my numerous virtual curatorial visits to the artist’s studio. Just check the News section here. Choose from over 25 stories and conversations with Diana Savova ever since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
