The Society of Scottish Artists – this artist-led organisation founded in 1891 and run by artists for artists – is made up of over 1,200 members spanning every conceivable art practice. Diana has been a member since 2015 and have just updated her annual membership including her profile on The Society of Scottish Artists website. This was an opportunity to reflect on the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on her current painting project Contemporary Fairy-Tale Magic.

In line with other arts organisations, parts of 2020 programme of the Scottish Society of Artists has unfortunately been postponed. Similarly, the public exhibtiion of Diana’s current project initially scheduled as part of the Edinbugh International Fringe Festival 2020, have had to be posponed. Aiming at retelling classic fairy tales through magic realism, Diana’s rescheduled solo exhibition at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Edinburgh, will also feature her painting The Fisherman and his Soul pictured here.

In the meantime, we have been following the new MEET THE MEMBERS Instagram series showcasing the practice of the artists in this worldwide network at the Society of Scottish Artists. During these unprecedented times, MEET THE MEMBERS manages to continue to keep us all connected putting the spotlight on the artists! Stay tuned as we hope that Diana’s work will come under the Society of Scottish Artists spotlight, too. Yours, Iliyana Nedkova
