New support networks bypassing the museum and gallery gatekeepers have started re-defining the art world ever since the Corornavirus outbreak. Magnets for both emerging artists and their patrons, these networks have been proliferating on online platforms managed by artists for artists. Diana is a proud member of Matthew Burrows’ #artistssupportpledge Instagram initiative, Spilt Milk’s #homeworksresidency, Andy Laffan’s #UIGOpen2020 and Society of Scottish Artists #MeettheMembers.
They all offer hope and antidote to the devastating COVID-19 impact on artistic practices and livelihoods. The latest supportive community for Diana to join is closer to her native Bulgaria. Set up by artist Petko Dourmana on 28 March 2020, Buy Art Suppprt Artists is a public Facebook group for a growing network of Bulgarian-speaking artists and their followers – 11,000 to date and with Kiril Kirov‘s surreal work as the cover (pictured here).
