With galleries and museums still closed, it is reassuring to see that a gallery can throw open its doors and re-imagine its traditional open group exhibition format. Hulabhaig Gallery is one such gallery which welcomes even those Edinburgh-based artists, like Diana, who haven’t ever travelled to Timsgarry – the gallery home that lies on the western side of the Isle of Lewis on Uig Bay in the Outer Hebrides.
Perhaps in a daze and a dream, with a little disregard of the lockdown, Diana’s work Cycle in a Dream ‘pedallled’ its way to Isle of Lewis and is now featured in the group exhibition UIG Open 2020: Reimagined online curated by Andy Laffan. Drawn by the austere yet surreal beauty of Timsgarry, Diana’s surreal painting blends in. It must be her surreal ‘fluid acrylic pouring’ technique which ensures the higher intensity and hyper-realism of her work.
Tempted to drive up to Timsgarry to see the exhibition? Just enjoy it from the comfort of your home and even add works like Diana’s to your collection by inquiring directly from the artist. Save the dates 30 May to 30 June 2020 when the public choice voting will be open and all exhibiting artists will stand a chance of winning a cash prize of £300 or more. Trust us to remind you about casting your vote on Diana’s Cycle in a Dream. Yours, Iliyana Nedkova.
